2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class details emerge
Next-generation B-Class will feature a crossover/SUV variant to take on the highly successful BMW X1
German car magazine Auto Bild is reporting new details on the upcoming 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class in addition to a photo of the vehicle captured completely uncovered.
According to the report, the next-generation B-Class will come with sliding rear seats that will make for a split between trunk space and rear leg room. Tech available on the new B-Class will included a lane assistance system and internet access.
Under the bonnet will come a choice of five petrol/gasoline engines and four diesels. The petrols will range in output from 109 PS (80 kW / 108 bhp) to 204 PS (150 kW / 201 bhp). The diesels will offer power from 122 PS (90 kW / 120 bhp) to 204 PS (150 kW / 201 bhp).
Hydrogen fuel-cell and EV versions of the B-Class will follow later in the generation's cycle.
The B-Class will have an X1-like crossover/SUV variant, possibly called the BLK but not looking at all like a baby GLK, to take on the very successful BMW X1 - the most popular premium SUV in Europe.
Prices in Germany for the next-generation B-Class will start at €24,500.
The 2012 B-Class is set to debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
